Overall Aim:
This PHECC 2-Day refresher course is for current First aid Responders. It educates employees in the proper response to any workplace emergency. First Aid Responder Courses are heavily focused on providing the necessary skills to enable the employees deal with injuries that would be likely to occur at their workplace. It meets and exceeds current Health and Safety Standards and requirements for employee training. Participants learn how to recognise medical emergencies, casualty assessment and perform lifesaving skills.
Who Should Attend:
Any staff looking to refresh their First Aid Responder training should complete this course.
You are only eligible for this course if you have already completed a First Aid Responder course.
Objectives
After completing the workshop, each participant will be able to:
- Recognise and assess the causes and effects of sudden illness and/or injury.
- Call for emergency medical services and provide adequate cover until handover.
- React to emergencies and respond in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner.
- Record and report actions and interventions.
- Retain a caring attitude in your role as a First Aid Responder
Workshop Content:
- Scene assessment and management
- Patient assessment
- Recognising and treating choking
- How to perform CPR and how to use an AED (defibrillator)
- Recognising and treating stroke and heart attack
- Treatment of fractures, spinal injuries, sprains and strains
- Treatment for shock and poisoning
- How to treat and bandage wounds and other injuries
- Recognising and treating concussion and compression
Training method
This PHECC FAR Refresher course is delivered onsite at your location, over two days. A maximum of 8 participants per session.
Once you have completed this course you will receive a certificate valid for 2 years.
