Aims:

This programme aims to introduce learners to the field of Artificial Intelligence with a focus on the area of Machine Learning. Beginning with an introduction to Python, the course takes learners through all the stages of the process, from gathering and processing data to using it to create Machine Learning models. It will demonstrate the benefits of using Machine Learning within an organisation.

Objectives
  • Introduce learners to the field of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Provide learners with the ability to develop Machine Learning models.
  • Enable learners to extract data and use it for model training purposes.
  • Equip learners with Python programming fundamentals and introduce them to commonly used packages.

Each evening class will cover the following topics:

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? History of Artificial Intelligence. Essential Characteristics of the Artificial Intelligence environment.

Exploring Python

Essential Python skills required to use the tools associated with Machine Learning. This includes an overview of some basic python syntax and an introduction to commonly used packages like NumPy. In addition, students will be introduced Jupyter Notebooks.

Statistics

Get up to speed on some of the fundamentals of statistics to gain an understanding of how Machine Learning models are trained.

Data Mining

Using either the student’s own dataset or one of the 25 million available via Google’s dataset search, learn how to explore the data in depth and prepare it for model training.

Machine Learning

Combining the skills acquired from both statistics and data mining, Machine Learning topic looks at model training and simulating the models in a production like environment. It will examine the different techniques of Supervised learning versus Unsupervised learning.
